Pierre-Olivier - Apprentice Engineer in third year at ESIGELEC School of Electrical Engineering in Rouen - France.
I have work experience as an apprentice business engineer in a commercial sector electrical engineering department. I’ve also completed a three-month placement at SPIE Matthew Hall’s Southern, Central and Airports Division, in London, in the department that responds to invitations to tender. I assisted one of the managers with a wide variety of extremely interesting projects including an energy-producing incinerator, a basketball stadium for the Olympic Games, works at Heathrow Airport and the world famous Harrods shopping mall. I played a part in these projects by attending various meetings, inputting my knowledge of electrical engineering and preparing files for technical sales reports. In those three months, I learned a great deal, especially about managing large invitations to tender, studying contract documents and creating project teams. I was able to develop my capabilities in management, logistic techniques, HVAC and high-voltage power. This placement gave me the opportunity to discover a different culture and another way of working which has given me a lot of ideas on how to improve my own work performance.
