Pascal, SPIE Service Development Manager
Instructor, ESTP (engineering school)

For five years, I have been teaching courses at ESTP that lead to a specialised Master’s degree in “Real Estate and Service Management”. I teach classes on the “Maintenance Profession”, which demonstrates the high value-added that maintenance represents among real estate professions.

I’m also an instructor in the specialised Master’s programme in “Real Estate Engineering for Health Care Institutions”, where I present maintenance as a vehicle for improving patient service.

As professionals, we put a great deal of emphasis on operational aspects. Our lessons are interwoven with actual recent experiences illustrating how theory translates into practice.

Partnership programme

Here are some examples of SPIE’s many academic partnerships. For partnership requests, please contact us at: relationsecoles@spie.com.

  • Job fairs

SPIE participates in many job fairs every year.

If you’re a student in a secondary school, university or engineering school, these fairs offer a great opportunity to meet our human resources managers and talk to line and staff managers who serve as SPIE ambassadors.

The fairs are the perfect time for students to learn more about our jobs, what we do and the opportunities awaiting them.

Don’t forget to bring your CV when you come to see us.

  • Job workshops

In partnership with corporate relations managers and student organisations, we host job workshops for students and line managers so they can discuss the various aspects and career prospects of specific professions.

The job workshops generally take place in a friendly setting at the school.

  • School sponsorships

To support our partner schools, or more specifically the groups of students specialising in our areas of expertise, SPIE may sponsor certain events.

Here are a few examples:

  • Three-year sponsorship of the 12th intake of students at INSA engineering school’s Telecommunications Department in Lyon (France),
  • Sponsorship of the Esigelec engineering school’s boat at the 40th Edhec sailing race,
  • SPIE Com’s Cup: A corporate regatta organised by SPIE Communications. Held in "La Rochelle" in France in May 2008, the competition pitted teams of Group employees against seven crews of students from universities and professional schools, featuring 140 competitors in 23 boats!

  • Worksite visits

We invite students to visit our worksites to gain a better understanding of our projects and jobs.

The tour conducted by the project line manager offers an excellent opportunity to learn the steps involved in winning the contract, the related challenges and the resulting structure, and to discuss the project’s technical aspects.

  • SPIE instructors in institutions of higher learning

Many Group employees serve as instructors at our various partner schools.
SPIE engineers and technicians teach courses in cutting-edge technical fields, including climate engineering, maintenance and external networks, and share the wealth of their professional expertise with students and their professors.

This instruction always follows the students’ curricula and often provides them with a different perspective on a specific profession. The students most interested in our careers can come to work for us through our internship or work/study .

  • Participation in school admissions committees

A number of SPIE human resources and line managers participate in some of our partner schools’ annual admissions committees.

In that role, the Group helps the schools select and evaluate candidate applications.
